9 Days Rajasthan Tour Itinerary
Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur
A Rajasthan Desert Tour Package is ideal for travelers who want to experience the Thar Desert alongside Rajasthan’s historic cities, local culture and royal heritage. A typical desert journey combines time in Jaisalmer, visits to its golden sandstone havelis and fort, and an evening at the Sam Sand Dunes, where travelers can enjoy a camel or jeep safari and watch the desert change color around sunset.
From our experience arranging Rajasthan trips, we have found that the desert experience is best enjoyed when there is enough time to slow down rather than treating the dunes as a quick sightseeing stop. Around sunset, the temperature becomes more comfortable, the dunes take on a golden glow, and the atmosphere at the desert camps becomes lively with Rajasthani folk music, traditional dance and local cuisine. Depending on the package, travelers can also spend the night in a comfortable desert camp under the open sky.
A well-planned Rajasthan desert tour may include a private vehicle, desert safari in Rajasthan, Jaisalmer sightseeing, a camel safari, jeep safari, sunset at the dunes, a desert camp stay and a traditional cultural evening. Couples often prefer a quieter camp and sunset experience, while families and small groups may enjoy combining a jeep safari with a camel ride and cultural program.
Your desert experience does not have to end in Jaisalmer. We can combine the Thar Desert with Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Pushkar to create a wider Rajasthan itinerary according to your requirements. Whether you are planning a short desert getaway or a longer Rajasthan holiday, we can help design a private tour that balances sightseeing, and local experiences.
Day 1
As soon as you arrive in Jaipur, your amazing Rajasthan desert tour package will start. You will be picked up by our representative as you reach the city. Jaipur is a well-connected city where you can arrive via air, rail, or bus. From there, you will be transferred to your hotel and checked in. You can spend the rest of the day as you like. If you have arrived later in the day, you can just relax after your journey. But if you have some time on hand, you can take a short walk through nearby markets and maybe try some local food.
Day 2
As you wake up in Jaipur on day two, you will be looking ahead to a day full of fun and magic. So enjoy your breakfast and begin the sightseeing right away. Some of the must-visit sites today include Amber Fort, known for its hilltop setting and grand courtyards; City Palace; Jantar Mantar; and the iconic Hawa Mahal. As the evening hits, you must set foot in the lively lanes of Jaipur’s local markets, which are known for their artistry and rich craft, from their return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3
As promised, this tour will take you to some of the lesser-explored hidden gems of Rajasthan. Therefore, today, after your breakfast, you will check out of your hotel in Jaipur and set on a scenic journey to Bikaner. As the journey is a bit long, no major sightseeing is planned for today. However, the scenic journey will more than make up for it. As you finally reach your destination, check into your hotel and relax. You can spend the remainder of the day at leisure, enjoying the quieter desert-town ambience of Bikaner.
Day 4
You will finally get to explore this hidden gem and its grandeur on day four. So start sightseeing right after having your breakfast. The first spot of the day will be Junagarh Fort. It is one of Rajasthan’s only forts built at ground level and is known for its beautiful interiors. Once you have covered all the spots, it will be time to start your journey to your next destination, Jaisalmer. Upon arrival in Jaisalmer, check into your hotel or haveli and enjoy an easy evening.
Day 5
No trip to Rajasthan can ever be complete without visiting the famous Thar. Therefore, on day five, you will explore Jaisalmer, the golden city, which is home to the Thar. You will visit the desert and have an overnight stay in a desert camp. The exploration of the city will include places like a living fort with homes, temples, and narrow lanes. Some of the most beautifully carved havelis and old city landmarks. In the afternoon, you will finally head to the desert dunes for a camel or jeep safari, sunset view, cultural performance, and optional overnight stay at a desert camp.
Day 6
Day six will bring some more hidden gems as you set out on the road after a delicious breakfast in the camp. Today, you will be visiting the city with many names, Jodhpur. Jodhpur is called the Gateway to Thar, the blue city, and the ram city and one day here will tell you why. However, before you reach it, take an en route stop at Osian. The small town is known for its ancient Hindu and Jain temples. Once in Jodhpur, check into your hotel and spend the evening resting or exploring local markets.
Day 7
Try to wake up early on day seven, as today there is a lot of exploration and travel. Start your day with a delicious breakfast, then hit the streets of the city. You will visit Mehrangarh Fort in the morning and explore its massive structure and museum galleries, among other things. After that, continue your journey to Pushkar or Ajmer for your overnight stay. As you reach your destination, relax in the peaceful surroundings or enjoy a short local exploration.
Day 8
Depending on where you stayed at night, you will today visit Pushkar’s holy lake, the major temples and ghats in Pushkar, and the Ajmer shrine in Ajmer. From there, you will then drive back to Jaipur for drop-off at the airport, railway station, or bus stand. This will mark the end of your desert-circuit tour.
