Day 01 : Jodhpur Arrival

Your great desert exploration trip will start as you arrive in the getaway of Jodhpur. Known as the Blue City, Jodhpur has much to offer. However, the first thing to do upon arrival is to check into your hotel and freshen up. Once you are ready to hit the road, your vehicle and driver will be waiting for you.

• Umaid Bhavan Palace

  Umaid Bhavan Palace is the royal pride of Jodhpur and one of the largest residential properties to ever exist. Maharaja Umaid Singh built the palace, which has a blend of Indo-Saracenic and Art Deco styles. Currently, the palace serves as a royal residence for the royal family of Jodhpur, a heritage hotel, and a museum, showcasing regal artefacts, vintage cars, and royal portraits. The palace is made of golden sandstone that gleams under the sun, reflecting Jodhpur’s royal grandeur.

• Mehrangarh Fort

  Mehrangarh Fort is like the poster image of Jodhpur. Located on a hill 400 feet above the city, the fort is one of India’s most formidable fortresses. It was built in 1459 and features several unique segments, including opulent palaces, intricate carvings, and expansive courtyards. The fort also has a museum that displays royal costumes and weapons. However, the best part of it is the ramparts that offer panoramic views of the “Blue City” spread below.

• Jaswant Thada

  While Jodhpur is the gateway to the Thar Desert, the city is also home to a serene lake. The best place to admire that lake is the Jaswant Thada. The thada was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The structure of it is of a cenotaph, which is made of translucent white marble. The landscaped gardens add to its beauty, making the thada a tranquil place and a fine example of Rajput architecture.

• Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower)

  Directly translating to the clock tower, the Ghanta Ghar is the heart of the city. The vibrant Kalyan Bazaar surrounds the tower and is a locals' favourite for shopping or enjoying a fun yet quiet evening with friends and family. It would be no lie to say that the bustling market captures Jodhpur’s soul with its vibrant textiles, spices, jewellery, and handicrafts.

Day 02 : Jaisalmer Transfer & City Sightseeing

After exploring the starting point of the Thar, it is now time for the real deal. But before you leave for Jaisalmer, it is time for a nice breakfast. With a full tummy and fuller heart, say goodbye to the blue city.

• Jaisalmer War Memorial (en route)

  While you move towards the most exciting part of the trip, the Thar Desert, don't forget to take a stop at the Jaisalmer War Memorial. Built in honour of the brave hearts that sacrificed their lives for their land, the memorial is a patriotic tribute.

• Local Markets and Evening Leisure

  As you finally reach the Golden City, the home of the world's second-largest desert, you might be tired from the long journey. Once you have checked into your hotel in Jaisalmer, take a moment to relax and stretch your legs. After that, you can take a stroll in the local markets and go for a leisurely walk.

Day 03 : Sightseeing in Jaisalmer

Day three marks the beginning of the trip's real thrill. As you wake up in Jaisalmer, get ready for a day full of exploration, whether it's architectural, natural, or cultural.

• Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Quila)

  Start your day at the royal fort of Jaisalmer. The fort is one of the very few living forts in the world, with people still residing inside the gorgeous yellow stone walls. With bustling compounds, shops and temples, the fort feels like a time travel working in both directions. One moment you are in the modern present, and another in the royal past.

• Patwon Ki Haveli

  The next obvious stop should be the famous Patwon ki haveli. These are a beautiful cluster of five havelis, built by the wealthy traders of the city. The havelis are a true testimony to the city's rich history and architectural brilliance.

• Nathmal Ki Haveli

  Nathmal ki haveli is another wonderful example of how brilliant the architecture was back then. The haveli was built by two architect brothers and is an epitome of architectural symmetry and creativity, which shines in its intricate carvings of elephants, flowers, and modern motifs like fans and trains.

• Salim Singh Ki Haveli

  Another masterpiece of Jaisalmer is the Salim Singh Ki Haveli. The structure is known for its arched, peacock-shaped balconies and unconventional design, which includes upper stories that widen like a ship’s stern, giving it a dramatic look.

• Gadisar Lake

  Gadisar Lake is the oasis of Jaisalmer. It is a lake that was built to serve as the main water reservoir for the city. While it is longer, the city's main source of water is still a scenic beauty. The lake is surrounded by intricately carved temples, shrines, and ghats that enhance the tranquil beauty of the lake's serene waters. You can enjoy the peaceful view from the ghat of the lake or you can also take a boat ride for a more tranquil experience.

  A trip to the desert can never be completed without a camel ride. The ship of the desert makes the best companion in the glittering sand dunes. And as you witness the sun set, it will feel like it's melting from the orange sky into the golden sand.

• Desert Camp Stay with Folk Performances and Bonfire

  Once you have explored the desert on the back of a camel, it is time to immerse yourself in a traditional experience at the desert camp, where you will enjoy wonderful folk performances and delicious local cuisine. The night will transit into a bonfire camp before you finally retire for the night in your tents.

Day 04 : Departure

Day four will be the last day of your trip. So, once you wake up in your desert camp, take time to soak in the beauty of the desert in the daylight. After having a delicious breakfast at the campsite, it will be time to start the return journey, back to Jaisalmer. As you reach the Golden City, the trip will reach its end. You will be dropped at the location of your choice in Jaisalmer.
